Open source software, a.k.a FLOSS (free/libre open source software) is gathering steam and is the source of much contention in developing countries, as well as Redmond, Washington. While there are dozens of sites about it and programs of all sorts, I was surprised to see a tutorial on FLOSS from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. They have supported access in libraries throughout U.S., Canada, U.K., Finland and more recently Latin America and Capetown, South Africa. "What is open source software?" was written two years ago by Edward Sargent of the foundation.
