Since the marginal cost of sending an internet message, not in real time, is essentially zero, I expect a variety of people to solve the into-real-time problem in a variety of ways (not involving paying money to Skype or Vonage) and make all calls free to anywhere. At that point the problem becomes one of what kind of network structures and what kind of social structures will evolve. Now I'm starting to get long distance junk phone calls from Canada (not covered by the US do-not-call list...), so we want to be careful what we wish for.
